The Haibike Dwnhll models combine the ability to shred the downhills as well as any gravity bike, together with the capability to master steep, technical, and previously impossible to ride uphill climbs. These bikes open up new realms of riding possibilities, both up and downhill. The limits of what was previously possible on an eMTB have been thrown wide open.
The Haibike SkidPlate:
Especially eMTBs often suffer from impacts or stone chipping which damage the low-situated motor severely. Therefore, we were the first manufacturer to introduce the SkidPlate back in 2012, a protection element which protects the bottom side of the motor.
Bottom side protection
Here the concept of a 'sacrifice part' applies: Similar to a helmet, the SkidPlate absorbs impact forces by deformation or destruction which would otherwise damage the significantly more expensive motor.
Plastic as ideal raw material
This is why we also use a special, shock-resistant plastic. This material conducts the incoming forces very well but stays dimensionally stable even under severe deformation at the same time compared to other materials which do not switch back to their original shape after deformation. The production in the corresponding colour perfectly hide scratches and smaller damage. If required, the SkidPlate can simply and cheaply be exchanged.
The Haibike IntegratedMotor concept:
The motor is the technological heart and the optical basis of an eBike. Thanks to the GravityCasting Interfaces, we are able to modify the motor as little as possible and thus get rid of all separate mounting plates. Hence, we minimize the assembly space and reduce the optical size of the motor to a fraction of its original size.
The SkidPlate is useful, not only from the technical point of view. It also ecloses the motor optically, it becomes a visual part of the frame. This results in a technical perfectly attached motor which is not a foreign component as in its standard version but rather becomes the basis of the ePerformance bike.
The Haibike Gravity Casting interface:
It is the heart of the frame: the motor interface. Here, many crucial functions such as motor mount, rocker and damper mount, as well as the interlocking battery and lower connection. A robust frame is based on a sturdy interface.
Casting technique known from the motorcycle industry
Therefore, since 2010, we use a casting technique which is known from the motorcycle industry, the so-called Gravity-Casting technique. In this process, negative forms made of compressed sand are placed in big forms. These sand forms are then filled with an alloy of alu and zinc and afterwards rotate in precisely calculated axes. Due to gravity, the alloy spreads evenly and results in an even casting thickness.
Light, robust and precise
Thanks to this procedure, extremely robust components can be produced which are then exposed to an extensive X-ray control in order to achieve the casting seal of approval. A subsequent, computer-controlled postprocessing ensures stable precision.
The new Yamaha PW-X drive unit:
The new compact and more powerful Yamaha PW-X motor was designed and developed for demanding ePerformance use. In comparison to the PW motor, its weight was reduced by nearly 400g to 3.1 kg, as well as its size, which was reduced by -13%.
An additional support level provides more power all the way up to high cadence ranges of 120 revolutions per minute. Despite having torque of up to 80Nm, the PW-X system provides a smooth, more silent and more natural driving experience. All rotating parts have been optimized with a focus on weight reduction.
As a result of the lower inertia caused by this weight reduction, these parts can move with greater efficiency relative to the input from your pedals. Combined with the new refined freewheel design which creates a rapid engagement of the cranks, the result is a significantly more responsive motor, which provides a new level of a natural riding feel.
The YAMAHA LCD-X Display:
The new, compact display of Yamaha LCD-X Systems offers a variety of information and functions, in spite of its small construction size.
This includes the selection and display of the support levels. Furthermore, it displays information about the battery charge, the remaining range, driving, average, and maximum speed as well as the daily and total distance. Time and the current cadence can also be displayed.
All functions can be conveniently controlled via a remote control which also offers a pushing aid up to a walking Speed of 6 km/h. A Bluetooth interface provides convenient digital connectivity. Practical: an LED in different colours indicates the currently selected level of assistance!
