The combined power of rider and Bosch Performance CX drive make long climbs appear flatter, long rides seem shorter, and no goal beyond reach. It’s all about maximising fun on the trail. That’s why the Reaction Hybrid SL has been given an enirely new, next-generation frame - improved in many areas, and kitted out with the best components. It all adds up to an exceptional e-MTB. Our Size Split means that the right wheel (27.5in or 29er) and frame size combo is available no matter what your height.
The evolution continues. A completely new design gives even greater rigidity and stability than before without adding weight, thanks to the triple butted and hydroformed HPA frame. The X-12 axle at the rear - complete with adaptable hanger - ensures the most efficient forward propulsion, while our Agile Ride Geometry (ARG) gives the Reaction Hybrid SL its lively character. It’s particularly noticeable in the steering department, which is easier than you’d expect from an e-bike and contributes to the fun factor. Internal cable routing protects gear cables from damage and ensures long-lasting smooth shifting. Multifunctional dropouts anchor the brake caliper and give a home for a CUBE bike stand if required.
Performance and reliability meet in the Shimano XT transmission - with ShadowPlus rear derailleur - and hydraulic disc brakes. There simply is no better solution for e-bikes than the 1x11 drivetrain. Bosch’s most powerful drive unit gives you a strong shove up the steepest of climbs or on the longest of rides - the CX motor has up to 75Nm of torque on tap. A standard 500Wh battery means this is an e-bike that can just keep on going. On rough trails Manitou’s Minute fork - with 100mm of air-sprung travel - keeps the rider comfortable and control, with the option of a lockout for climbs. Light and rigid Answer Atac MA wheels shod with grippy Schwalbe Rocket Ron and Racing Ralph 2.25in Kevlar tyres, coupled with an exclusive cockpit setup, complete this high performance package.
Agile Ride Geometry
We ran innumerable tests to develop the Agile Ride Geometry in our series of big wheel bikes. We also added the 27.5in wheel size to the very well received portfolio. Three important details lead to the very agile character. Increased fork offsets let us achieve the same trail as our 26in bikes without having to steepen the head angle, thus maintaining generous toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly we shortened the chain stays without compromising the seat angle. We invented a patented construction to mount the front derailleur to give us more tyre clearance while keeping a conventional seat angle, leading to a perfect riding position for every rider size. Last but not least we kept the BB height the same as on our 26in bikes. These measures lead to a natural riding position. Every mountain biker will feel immediately at home on a CUBE 29er or 27.5.
Wet Paint Surface
On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.
Easy Mount Kickstand
The Easy Mount Kick Stand is a new system developed and designed by CUBE. The base of the stand is mounted from below to a fitting plate integrated to the frame and fixed with a through bolt. This kick stand is extremely stiff and solid through the enlarged contact areas between base and frame which gives a stable stand even with loaded panniers.
Frame Safe System
To protect our high-end aluminium frames from damage, they are built with the CUBE Frame Save System replaceable derailleur hanger. The mounting thread is in the hanger and not in the frame as usual. In case of a crash, this hanger can be easily and quickly replaced by a new one.
Integrated Cable Routing
Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.
