How does the bike scheme work?

Companies are able to loan their staff bikes and cycle equipment as part of their employee benefits package.

The Bike Scheme then makes it possible for employers to offer their employees tax and national insurance reductions if they wish to enjoy the benefits of cycling to work.

By taking advantage of these generous tax exemptions, employees will make a ‘salary sacrifice’ in return for the tax-free benefit of the bike.
