Yamaha

Yamaha were an early entry into the development of e-bike systems. In 1989 they developed their first prototype called ‘Power Assist System’. They then began making electric bikes in Japan in 1993 under the name PAS. Yamaha’s systems come pre-installed on manufacturers bikes. Currently, amongst the brands using Yamaha are Giant, Liv, Haibike and Lapierre.

Yamaha have different drive units and depending on the intended use of the bike, will need a specific unit installed. Their drive units are the PW-X2 for mountain biking, PW Series ST for multi-use, all-round sports and trail, PW Series TE for urban areas and PW Series CE for commuting and leisure.
